What do we need to bring?
You should bring these things with you:
Appropriate Fishing License NY or Ontario, appropriate clothing. Our suggestion: dress in layers. You can remove the outer layers if needed. It’s often colder on the water than on shore. We have room to store extra clothes, or you may change in the cabin, rain gear, hats and sunglasses, sunblock (please no spray-on sunscreen on board), non-slip shoes (Please no Work Boots), camera, lunch or snacks (if not having Shore Lunch), cooler to transport catch home and beverages.

What do you provide?
What we provide:
Parking at dock or pick-up available at most local hotels or several public docks throughout the village, all rods and reels, tackle, ice and bait, catch will be filleted and packaged at no additional cost, children welcome (under 13 required to wear a life jacket at all times), sheltered fishing spots among islands, beautiful scenery! We fish among the 1000 Islands where you’ll see architecture including castles and mansions, as well as wildlife like bald eagles, osprey, mink, otter, great blue herons, waterfowl, whitetail deer, and of course, fish!

Does the fishing charter boat have a bathroom?
Yes! There is a Marine toilet aboard. The fishing charter boat also features a covered cockpit area in case of weather and a cabin area for storage or changing of clothes.

Are the fish cleaned?
The fish are fileted and packaged at no additional cost. Guests should bring a cooler for transporting the filets home.

Do we need a license to fish with you?
Yes, clients 16 years or older need a fishing license. Check with Capt. Matt to see what license is best for the current conditions. You can purchase a New York State fishing license here or an Ontario fishing license here.

How many people are allowed on the fishing charter boat?
The maximum capacity according to Coast Guard regulations is 6 passengers plus Capt. Matt and crew.

Can we bring more than 6 people?
The US Coast Guard limits our Charter boat to 6 passengers regardless of age. If you have a larger group, we can arrange a fleet of boats. A boat fleet is a popular choice for business groups, bachelor parties, family reunions and other large group gatherings. With our boat fleet, we fish nearby each other and meet together for the Shore Lunch.

Will our group be the only people on the fishing charter boat?
With a Private Charter, only your group, Capt. Matt and First Mate Tim will be on the boat.

Where does the fishing charter boat operate?
Seaway Charters operates on the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands region.

Which types of fish are caught and what techniques are used on the fishing charter boat?
May and June is Northern Pike and Perch season. Bass, Walleye and Channel Catfish are often caught July through September. Trolling for Musky occurs in October and November. A variety of techniques are used, including casting, drifting and jigging with both artificial and live bait. Only trolling is used for Muskys.

Where do we meet and get picked up?
The fishing charter boat is located at 69 Anthony Street Alexandria Bay, NY 13607. You can click the address for driving directions.

Additionally, pick up by boat is available at many area hotels and resorts.

 

What’s included?
All Rods, Reels, tackle, bait, bottled water, safety equipment and a lifetime of River and fishing experience.

Everything you need is included, except a fishing license, snacks and drinks (alcohol is allowed if fishing NY water).

What happens if inclement weather occurs?
The fishing charter boat has a Hardtop and cabin to get out of the rain. 1000s of Islands provide sheltered fishing spots. In the rare event of dangerous conditions, we will cancel the trip and adjust the times accordingly. Safety is a priority.

Is the fishing charter boat family friendly? Are first time fishers welcome?
Yes! No experience necessary. While Capt. Matt enjoys every charter, there is something special seeing a child or a first timer have a great time on the River.

What time of day are fishing charters available?
The full day fishing charter typically departs at 8 a.m. with an estimated return time at 3pm. Our half day fishing charter is available with a departure time at 8 a.m. with a noon return time; alternatively, our half day fishing charter is available as a 3 p.m. departure and a 7 p.m. return time. We may be able to adjust times to accommodate your schedule; please inquire when booking if scheduling accommodations are necessary.

Is the fishing charter boat stable and safe?
Yes! You can expect a wide, stable, and safe fishing charter boat. The fishing charter boat features high sides and a covered cockpit area to get out of occasional inclement weather. The boat has plenty of room for up to 6 anglers. You can also be confident knowing that the fishing charter boat is Coast Guard inspected with all necessary safety equipment, including life jackets, flares, first aid kit and more.

Is the fishing charter boat clean?
Yes! Seaway Charters ensures that the boat is very well kept and spotless for each fishing charter. The fishing charter boat is also sanitized for COVID-19.

How much does a fishing charter trip cost?
The full day fishing charter costs $580 for one person and an additional $80 per person. A shore lunch is also available for full day fishing charters. The optional Shore Lunch is included in the price. Same price whether we fish all day or go in for shore lunch. Requires advance notice when booking. The half day fishing charter is $450 for one person and an additional $25 per person.
